Colocation Engineer Role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of global infrastructure. Our team ensures customers have uninterrupted access to innovative solutions. We tackle complex problems with numerous variables impacting the supply chain and seek talented individuals to help.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review data center designs with vendors, incorporating AWS products to meet expectations.
  • Act as resident engineer during construction projects, supporting commissioning and handover.
  • Troubleshoot site/equipment failures, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation.
  • Provide operational support, including ad-hoc training and complex procedure reviews.
  • Support data center upgrades and design-solutions, improving capacity, availability, and efficiency.
  • Interface with various teams to promote standards for consistency and reliability in services delivered.
  • Work on concurrent projects across multiple regions.
  • Initiate and lead engineering site audits, producing reports outlining risks and recommended mitigations.
A Day in the Life:
  • You will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of data centers.
  • You will prioritize activities to support data center capacity, availability, and safety.
  • You will work on local and global projects.
  • You will lead initiatives to fit out data centers to meet evolving customer needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities.
  • Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with web-based tools for calculation and data processing.
  • Direct experience with data center design, construction, operation, or maintenance.
  • Experience as a resident engineer or hands-on design consultant.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical equipment/design related to data centers.
