Estimating Specialist Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Estimating Specialist to join our team. As an Estimating Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating with bid teams and colleagues in the estimating department to manage and deliver cost estimates at various stages of scheme development.

This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in civil engineering project experience, management, engineering, or commercial roles. You should have proven estimating experience in civil engineering bids, particularly roads, bridges, rail, marine, or water sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with bid teams, colleagues in the estimating department, and other stakeholders to develop cost estimates.
  • Manage and deliver cost estimates at various stages in scheme development, scope definition, and design maturity.
  • Contribute to optioneering and feasibility assessments, value engineering proposals, and liaison with bid and project teams representing various disciplines.
  • Liaise with clients, designers, and other consultants, quantity surveyors, and third parties.
  • Organize and administer tender documents, correspondence, enquiries, and quotations.
  • Challenge and contribute to all aspects of bid preparation and submission, investigating safe and cost-effective solutions.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Level 8 Honours Bachelor Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Suitable civil engineering project experience in management, engineering, or commercial roles.
  • Proven estimating experience in civil engineering bids, particularly roads, bridges, rail, marine, or water sectors.
  • Demonstrable understanding of common forms of contract and methods of measurement used in the Irish market.
  • Leadership and management skills, with experience of managing a team to achieve deadlines.
  • Expert commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent client-facing and supply chain-facing skills.
  • Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
