Senior Psychologist
A senior psychologist position is available in the HSE West and North West region, specifically in Galway University Hospitals. The ideal candidate will have experience of working as a trainee psychologist or post-qualification within an acute hospital setting.
The successful candidate will possess knowledge of the key aspects of psychological responses to cancer at all stages of the disease and its impact on patients' families and carers.
The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide psychological services to patients with cancer and their families. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive psychological assessments and treatments for patients with cancer-related mental health issues
- Working closely with healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs
- Conducting research to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and promote evidence-based practice
- Designing and implementing training programs for healthcare professionals to enhance their understanding and provision of psychological care
Required qualifications and skills include:
- Master's degree in psychology or a related field
- Registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)
- Experience in an acute hospital setting
- Knowledge of cancer care principles and palliative care best practices
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
