About The Role

Purpose of the Role:
The Health Care Assistant is expected to engage in daily activities and routines of the service they work in, including direct support to service users, administrative work, and daily household tasks. They are required to work as part of a dedicated and innovative team within Residential Services, providing services to the people we support in line with HIQA regulations & standards.

Since we provide specialist services 24/7, working hours are on a shift basis, including sleep-ins and waking night duties as needed. Flexibility may be required regarding hours of work.

Essential Requirements
  • Relevant QQI Level 5 Healthcare qualifications or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar environment supporting adults or children with intellectual and physical disabilities
  • Knowledge of adults/children with complex needs
  • Full manual driver's license and eligibility to drive in Ireland
  • Eligible to live and work in Ireland
Main Responsibilities
  • Assist with activities and care as assigned by the Manager and indicated in the person's Care Plan, ensuring high standards of care
  • Recognize each child/adult as an individual, prioritizing their and their family's needs and comfort
  • Act as an advocate for the child/adult and family, providing appropriate information and support
  • Develop social interactions for the supported individuals both individually and in groups
  • Be aware of the uses, safety precautions, and handling of equipment
  • Participate in communication processes—team meetings, staff forums, emails
  • Provide personal care to those supported when required
  • Maintain confidentiality of the organization and the individuals supported
  • Be flexible and willing to work shifts to meet service needs
