Job Title

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated team member to join our deli department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring that every customer interaction is positive and memorable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner, providing a high level of customer care and ensuring that all customer needs are met.
  • Communicate with customers effectively, using excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with customers.
  • Deal with customer complaints professionally, referring to the supervisor where necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of current fresh food sales and promotions, ensuring that all products are sold at the optimal time.
  • Assist customers with queries regarding fresh food products, providing expert advice and guidance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the fresh food area and equipment are maintained to the required level of hygiene, carrying out cleaning as per company policy.
  • Receive and check stock in line with company guidelines, ensuring that all stock is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Store and display products in line with food hygiene policy and merchandising policy, ensuring that all products are presented in an appealing and attractive way.
  • Rotate stock appropriately to minimise waste, ensuring that all products are sold before they expire.
  • Be vigilant to prevent stock loss and waste, taking proactive steps to reduce losses and improve efficiency.
  • Conduct stock takes as instructed by supervisor/manager, ensuring that all stock is accurately counted and recorded.
  • Comply with food hygiene practices in line with HACCP regulations, ensuring that all food safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Take care of your health and safety, as well as that of your colleagues and customers, reporting any hazards or risks to management immediately.

  • A flexible approach to working hours, being able to work varied shifts including early mornings and weekends.
  • The ability to multi-task under pressure, managing multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Good organisational skills, being able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to build rapport with customers and colleagues alike.
  • Numerical abilities, being able to handle cash and make change accurately.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, being able to collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • The ability to use initiative, being able to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Sound judgement with the ability to make decisions, being able to make informed decisions quickly and efficiently.
  • Self-motivation, being able to work independently and motivate yourself to achieve targets.
  • Good attention to detail, being able to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail at all times.
