Clinical Nurse Manager 2 for Major Emergency Planning
">The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 for Major Emergency Planning plays a pivotal role in hospital preparedness and response to major incidents, mass casualty events, and internal incidents.
Key Responsibilities- Provide robust clinical leadership to staff involved in emergency situations and ensure effective implementation of the Major Emergency Plan and Internal Incident Plan.
- Establish excellent communication and build effective working relationships with all hospital departments to support preparedness.
- Work with the Major Emergency and Business Continuity Manager to prioritise initiatives within the service.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and evaluations to ensure continuous improvement.
- Act as a role model and support real-time decision making during incidents, ensuring patient and staff safety.
- Collaborate with the health and safety department to support compliance with national standards and statutory requirements.
- Maintain reports and support the development of quality improvement plans and local KPIs for the service.
- Assess and identify training and development needs for all staff within the hospital and set objectives for learning.
- Contribute to the development of training programmes and participate in exercises (tabletop, simulation) and IT modules.
- Participate in in-service education and represent the hospital at local and national levels as required.
- Apply research findings and participate in research as appropriate to support improvements within the service.
- Safeguard the welfare and safety of patients and staff by establishing and enforcing clinical standards with action plans for all departments.
- Ensure hospital policies and procedures are understood by all staff.
- Monitor and evaluate outcomes post-emergency events and maintain audit and improvement records.
- Participates in budget planning and management of departmental and non-departmental resources.
- Seek resource efficiency and value-for-money initiatives contributing to hospital financial challenges.
- Oversee allocation and management of resources, equipment, and supplies to ensure preparedness for emergencies.
- Registered in the relevant division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or entitled to be so registered.
- At least 5 years post-registration experience, of which 2 years must be in the specialty or related area.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Recognised management qualification or willingness to undertake if successful at interview.
- Postgraduate qualification in Emergency Nursing.
