Job Title

A health and safety advisor is required to provide oversight and guidance on site visits, risk assessments and process reviews for a large utilities provider in the Galway/North-West region. This role involves conducting regular site inspections across multiple locations, documenting findings and implementing improvements as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct weekly site visits to various workplaces across the region, identifying potential hazards and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation of risk assessments, method statements and other relevant reports.
  • Review existing processes and procedures around communication of risk, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement effective risk management plans.

To be successful in this role, candidates will need a strong understanding of health and safety principles and regulations, along with excellent communication and analytical skills. Previous experience in a similar position is highly desirable, as is proficiency in Microsoft packages such as Excel and Visio.

Requirements
  • A diploma or degree in safety, health and welfare at work, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in a health and safety advisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, including ISO 18001/45001 and ISO 9001.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
