Job Title: Cloud Database Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain cloud-based database systems, including but not limited to AWS RDS, Azure PostgreSQL Flexible server, Azure SQL Managed instance, IBM Database, and Google Cloud SQL.
  • Monitor database performance, analyze slow queries, suggest query optimizations, and optimize database performance using best practices on cloud based configurations for maximum efficiency and speed.
  • Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Implement and enforce database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Design and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions using cloud provider services to ensure continuous database operations.
  • Plan and execute database migrations to and from cloud environments with minimal downtime.
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption.
  • Develop and implement scripts and automation tools for routine database administration tasks.
  • Work closely with development teams to support database-related application development, including schema design and query optimization.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to database management and security.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on cloud-based databases and cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in managing databases on cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
  • Experience with performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Experience with database migration and integration processes.
  • Experience with Linux OS administration.
  • Experience with DB replication, Disaster Recovery and Database load testing.
  • Good understanding of internet routing protocols.
