Job Title:

Bridge Design Engineer – Dublin or Cork

Overview:

As a bridge design engineer, you will play an integral role in the design and delivery of our bridge and multidisciplinary projects. You will be supported throughout by our teams in Ireland and the UK.

Main Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Work with existing and new bridge and civil structures across a range of materials and forms, including superstructure, substructure and articulation elements.
  • Participate in early project stages, including scoping, surveys, inspection and investigative works, optioneering and scheme design.
  • Undertake detailed design work, including modelling, calculations and drawing production oversight.
  • Prepare documents, including technical reports, specifications and contract documents.
  • Undertake independent design checking and provide construction stage support.
  • Interface with clients from local and national authorities, consultants, and design-build contractors.
Essential Requirements:
  • Hold or will shortly achieve the title of CEng with Engineers Ireland, ICE, IStructE or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years' relevant professional bridges design experience in the civil or structural engineering sector.
  • Flexible, motivated and focused.
  • Good technical knowledge and engineering understanding of bridges.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in written and in-person interaction with external parties.
  • Good knowledge of structural analysis software including finite element analysis.
  • Good knowledge of and experience in the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and other standards including Eurocodes.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment with tight deadlines.
  • Fluent or highly proficient in spoken and written English.
