This role involves leading the environmental assessment process for large-scale renewable energy projects in Ireland. As an Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality reports and assessments that meet regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- EIA Process Lead: Oversee the Environmental Impact Assessment process, ensuring timely delivery of reports and assessments.
- Environmental Expertise: Provide guidance to support the planning team and inform business strategy to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with changes in planning and environmental legislation, policy decisions, and local authority development plans.
- Company Submissions: Contribute to company submissions as required and assist with stakeholder engagement and community consultation.
- Service Specifications: Prepare specifications for third-party services and assist with procurement processes.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure all work complies with health and safety and environmental policies and relevant EU and national requirements.
- Mentorship: Assist junior staff with upskilling and mentoring, focusing on EIA processes.
Requirements:
- Education: Hons degree in environmental science, engineering, or equivalent; postgraduate qualification desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience leading EIAR and AA/NIS preparation for large-scale projects.
- Expertise: Expertise in leading EIS/EIAR and AA/NIS delivery for large-scale development projects and managing multidisciplinary teams essential.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the EIA process, Irish planning policy, and legislation in relation to EIA essential.
- Renewables Experience: Experience in renewables and related infrastructure or technical lead in a discipline related to EIA desirable.
