Test Engineer - Financial Services

We're looking for a skilled Test Engineer to join our team and play a key role in shaping the quality of our financial applications. As our first hire in this area, you'll have a real voice in how we build and ship.

The successful candidate will own day-to-day product quality, with test planning and execution as core responsibilities. They'll work closely with developers and other teams to build out a suite of automation solutions that ensure releases are safe and reliable.

Key responsibilities include planning and running test cases for new features, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and regression scope, as well as signing off on releases. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for logging defects, triaging with engineers, verifying fixes, and improving requirement clarity.

In addition to these tasks, the Test Engineer will build and maintain lean automation using Playwright or Cypress, UI and API, integrating with CI tools like GitHub Actions. They'll also help define and run Large Language Model (LLM) evaluation checks, accuracy, reliability, safety, and contribute evidence for SOC 2 and ISO 27001 readiness.

Requirements
  • 1-3 years' experience testing web applications, with hands-on experience in test plans and manual execution.
  • Playwright or Cypress, plus Python or JavaScript, and familiarity with Git and CI.
  • Working grasp of web app fundamentals, authentication and APIs, basic SQL, observability, and cloud basics, e.g., AWS.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, strong attention to detail, collaborative, organised, comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Nice to have: prior finance or fintech QA experience, LLM testing, SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
