Capital Equipment Procurement Specialist

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process of capital tooling for plastics and metal stamping, encompassing supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and the development of strategies to support cost reduction, quality improvements, and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with selected suppliers as the primary interface between them and internal functions.
  • Oversee supplier pricing and cost structures to optimize capital expenditures.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at reducing costs through competitive tendering, negotiation, and identification of opportunities with existing and potential suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and user departments to enhance the supply chain and reduce lead times and inventory liabilities.
  • Identify potential risks to supply continuity early and provide effective solutions to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member, especially in strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, good manufacturing practices, corporate regulations, and EHS guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of training and professional development to comply with relevant certification requirements.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • NFQ Level 8 qualification in Business, Supply Chain, or related Engineering/Science discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in plastic molding and/or tooling.
  • Substantial procurement experience, including cost reduction initiatives and change implementation.
  • Understanding of the injection mold tool build process and capital equipment purchasing.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while being flexible to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of GMP regulations and standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office and capable of analyzing complex issues effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of accuracy.
