Early Years Practitioner Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Years Practitioner to support the development, learning, and wellbeing of children with Autism.

About the Role
  • This role involves working closely with children with Autism, supporting their development, learning, and wellbeing in a nurturing environment.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and delivering Individual Education plans, assisting the teacher in providing a caring, fun, and safe environment.
Responsibilities
  1. To teach/tutor children with a diagnosis of Autism, implementing and delivering their Individual Education plans.
  2. Assist the teacher in providing an environment for the children to ensure it is one that is caring, fun and safe.
  3. Work in an environment that aims to reduce inappropriate behaviours and increase acceptable behaviours by following the appropriate behaviour protocols as set out by the pre-school or the behaviour support team.
  4. Promote the children's use of communication at all times.
  5. Provide the children with early intervention education to enable them to reach long term goals, learn basic life skills, functional activities and independence.
  6. To play and interact with the children.
  7. To support the teacher in the daily running of the class.
  8. To follow the applied behaviour analysis behaviour plan for each child and capture related data - full training given.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Degree in a related area such as Montessori Education, Primary Education, Early Childcare and Education, Social Care, Psychology, Arts or other relevant Degree Only- all Level 8 and 9 eligible.
  • Experience with children or ABA experience desirable.
  • Must be eligible to register with the Teaching Council of Ireland. This is possible under the Further Education Section.

Working Environment

This position is based in City West and hours are 08:55-13:25, Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team.
