Irishmuseums is a vibrant heritage attraction located in the heart of Dublin. Our mission is to educate and engage visitors of all ages, fostering curiosity about Dublin's past through innovative and interactive experiences.

We are seeking a passionate and creative Education and Schools Officer to join our Education team. This full-time role will play a pivotal part in expanding our educational and outreach offerings to schools, families, and community groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Delivery
    • Design and facilitate engaging workshops and events for schools, collaborating with the Marketing and Events team to promote these programmes.
    • Oversee the development and management of a new handling collection for schools, including teacher training and resource maintenance.
    • Manage general bookings for group visits (including domestic schools, language schools, and other visitor types) and educational workshops, ensuring smooth scheduling and coordination.
    • Keep up to date with developments in the Irish primary and post-primary curriculum and trends in museum learning.
    • Work collaboratively with other museum staff in the development of learning resources and public programmes.
    • Provide content for social media and marketing opportunities for the Education Department.
    • Perform any other duties which may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Education as appropriate to this position
  • Resource Creation and Management
    • Update and enhance pre- and post-visit activity sheets, ensuring relevance to our Viking and Medieval exhibits and alignment with the Irish curriculum.
    • Design and enhance our current offering for our language school visitors.
    • Manage and update our AsIAm resources, promoting accessibility and inclusion for neurodiverse visitors.
    • Create online and in-person learning materials to deepen audience engagement and understanding.
  • Outreach and Collaboration
    • Build relationships with schools, community groups, and external partners to promote our educational programs.
    • Develop and execute outreach initiatives to engage the Dublin 8 community and beyond.
  • Evaluation and Reporting
    • Develop tools and metrics to assess the impact of educational programs, using feedback to inform continuous improvement.
    • Report on program outcomes, demonstrating alignment with our mission and strategic goals.
    Requirements
    • A third-level degree or a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in museum education, heritage education, public cultural programming, or a related field.
    • Experience managing bookings for group visits and educational programs, including scheduling and liaising with schools and community groups.
    • Proven expertise in object-based learning and designing educational resources for diverse audiences.
    • Knowledge of primary and post-primary curricula and the ability to develop appropriate learning resources, including object-based learning.
    • Strong project management, organisational, and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
