Viking and Medieval Educator

We are seeking an experienced and creative Education and Schools Officer to join our Education team. This full-time role will play a key part in expanding our educational and outreach offerings to schools, families, and community groups, enhancing the visitor experience and driving business growth.
Main Responsibilities- Programme Development and Delivery
- Design and deliver engaging educational programs for schools, collaborating with the Marketing and Events team.
- Oversee the development and management of a new handling collection for schools, including teacher training and resource maintenance.
- Manage group visit bookings and educational workshops, ensuring smooth scheduling and coordination.
- Stay up-to-date with curriculum developments and trends in museum learning, adapting our programs accordingly.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop learning resources and public programs.
- Contribute to social media and marketing campaigns for the Education Department.
- Undertake additional tasks as required by the Head of Education.
- Resource Management and Creation
- Update and enhance pre- and post-visit activity sheets, ensuring relevance to our Viking and Medieval exhibits and alignment with the Irish curriculum.
- Design and enhance our current offering for our language school visitors.
- Manage and update our AsIAm resources, promoting accessibility and inclusion.
- Create engaging online and in-person learning materials.
- Community Engagement and Partnerships
- Build relationships with schools, community groups, and external partners to promote our educational programs.
- Develop and execute outreach initiatives to engage the local community.
- Evaluation and Reporting
- Establish metrics to assess program impact, informing continuous improvement.
- Report on program outcomes, showcasing alignment with our mission and strategic goals.
- A third-level degree or a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in museum education, heritage education, public cultural programming, or a related field.
- Experience managing bookings for group visits and educational programs, including scheduling and liaison with schools and community groups.
- Proven expertise in object-based learning and designing educational resources for diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of primary and post-primary curricula and the ability to develop appropriate learning resources, including object-based learning.
- Strong project management, organisational, and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
