Job Description

As a key member of our management team, the Commercial/Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects within budget and timeframe. This involves:

  • Managing project schedules, Bills of Quantities, on-site work records, variations, and monthly contract valuations;
  • Maintaining strong relationships with customers, handling issues professionally and promptly;
  • Overseeing accurate and timely payments in accordance with financial control procedures;
  • Assisting site managers/foremen in site procedures, subcontractor management, HR, material requisitions, purchase orders, and plant/machinery resource management.
Key Accountabilities & Indicators of Effectiveness

The successful candidate will be measured on their ability to:

  • Maintain and develop relationships with senior-level customers to ensure satisfaction;
  • Manage project schedules, Bills of Quantities, on-site work records, variations, and monthly contract valuations;
  • Maintain and update work schedules, document site work, and track variations and extras;
  • Maintain gross margins and adhere to invoice margin analysis, monitored weekly as per the credit control procedure.
Necessary Skills and Attributes

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A third-level qualification in Landscape or Construction Management;
  • Knowledge of plants and landscape materials; experience in contract cost control;
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); experience with Liberate estimating software and Microsoft Project;
  • A minimum of 5 years in landscape construction or related construction sector.

You will be expected to:

  • Work independently without supervision;
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills and ability to set/meet targets;
  • Communicate honestly and straightforwardly with customers and team members.
