Opportunity
Our hospital seeks an experienced psychiatric registrar to provide high-quality care to adult patients with mental health disorders across community settings.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of service users while developing advanced clinical and professional skills.
This role will be based across Ballinasloe's Community Services.
A driving licence is essential for this position.
What You Will Gain
The salary scale for this post ranges from €68,891 to €81,126 per annum.
- Additional remuneration for on-call duties and overtime as applicable depending on rota.
- 30 days annual leave.
- 10 public holidays.
- Hours: 37 hours per week, plus on-call supplements.
- The current vacancy available is temporary (3 months) and full-time with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for adult patients with a range of psychiatric conditions.
Participate in the on-call rota for General Adult Psychiatry, covering inpatients, emergency referrals, and liaison psychiatry.
Contribute to care planning and case management in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Conduct regular ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and community follow-up clinics under consultant supervision.
Liaise with primary care teams, emergency services, and voluntary/community organisations involved in mental health support.
Requirements
- Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
- A minimum of 24 months of post-internship clinical experience in Psychiatry.
- Able to take up the appointment by Aug/Sep 2025. Must have a critical skills employment permit in place or permission to live and work in Ireland.
Desirable Qualifications
- Prior experience working in an Irish or UK healthcare setting.
- Participation in quality improvement or patient safety initiatives.
