Support Worker - Job Description

The role of a Support Worker involves providing in-home and community-based support to children with additional needs and their families.

Salary:

The salary scale for this position is €32,639 to €39,499 pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI's (Long Service Increments).

Job Overview:

This role will be coordinated by the Family Support & Respite Coordinators, who will prioritize families to be involved in the service. The family support worker will work closely with the Family Support & Respite Coordinator.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum QQI Level 5 Childcare course (total 8 modules) including a module on special needs or Year 1 completed of a related degree programme (such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology)
  • A SNA Qualification or a relevant health care qualification
  • Access to transport
  • Must be eligible to work in the state

Desirable Criteria:

It would be beneficial if you have:

  • One year's experience of working with children with additional needs
  • A full clean driving licence with no restrictions
  • Up-to-date Manual Handling, First Aid, Children First, Infection control, PPE Training
