Senior Health and Wellbeing Manager Job Description

This position oversees the delivery of health and safety, security, environmental, and quality standards across multiple projects. Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices is key.

The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for developing and implementing HSSEQ management systems, processes, and tools that meet organizational needs. Experience in managing complex engineering capital delivery projects, metro rail projects, or similar scale and complexity is essential.

Required skills include knowledge of contract documents, forms of contract, and specifications. A strong understanding of health and safety strategies and performance indicators is also necessary. The ability to collaborate with stakeholders, manage conflicting priorities, and set goals for direct reports is critical.

A minimum Level 8 degree in engineering, project management, or a related field is required, along with health and safety diploma or degree. Chartered member of ISOH and member/fellow of Chartered Quality Institute or appropriate institution are advantageous qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the HSSEQ team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement HSSEQ management systems that align with industry best practices.
  • Manage contractor site meetings and oversee the drafting of health and safety requirements for contracts.
  • Embed a strong health and safety culture through campaigns and communication to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance, including related roles and contractors.
Qualifications:
  • 15+ years' experience leading and embedding HSSEQ practices into complex projects.
  • Experience managing HSSEQ on site and developing/maintaining HSSEQ management systems.
  • Knowledge of contract documents, forms of contract, and specifications.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Strong planning, governance, and delivery skills.
