Purpose:

The Early Care Teacher is responsible for fostering the social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development of infants and toddlers in accordance with established standards.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement daily activities that are developmentally appropriate
  • Conduct regular health checks and ensure the environment is clean, safe, and free of hazards
  • Develop and implement individualized activities based on the developmental level of each child
  • Create learning environments that promote experimentation and exploration
  • Facilitate and assist children in developing positive relationships within the classroom
  • Communicate effectively with parents to promote parental involvement in their child's early learning experience
  • Conduct screenings and ongoing assessments of each child's growth and development; use the information to refer children with potential delays
  • Maintain and update records on all children enrolled in the classroom

Formal Education and Experience:

An Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with five (5) Early Childhood Education classes, or a Child Development Associate credential with a concentration in Infant/Toddler Services is required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of child development, with an emphasis on birth to 3 years old
  • Ability to establish trust, communicate respect, and develop caring and nurturing relationships with children, parents, staff, and the community
  • Ability to work well with others and effectively manage the infant-toddler classroom
  • Ability to process and apply information appropriately
  • Ability to maintain a healthy and safe environment for infants and toddlers
