Job Description

As a Senior Fingerprint Examiner, you will play a crucial role in identifying and verifying individuals through the analysis of fingerprints. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of fingerprint classification and identification procedures, as well as experience with Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS). You will be responsible for examining fingerprints, taking notes, and making recommendations for further action.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as you will need to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and law enforcement agencies to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Classify and register fingerprints in AFIS
  • Search and identify fingerprints in AFIS
  • Assist other agencies with fingerprint and identification work
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Either: Two years of experience as a Fingerprint Examiner or Three years of experience as a Fingerprint or Tenprint Examiner
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license
  • Vision: 20/100 without corrective lenses, correctable to 20/20 with corrective lenses
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
  • Ability to type 30 words per minute
