Job Title: Mechanical Building Services Design Specialist

The role of a Mechanical Building Services Design Specialist is a challenging and rewarding position that involves working on various projects in data centre and biopharma sectors, as well as specialist building services in government, educational, healthcare and leisure sectors.

Responsibilities include researching, developing, designing and coordinating engineering project services for mechanical or electrical installations, systems, equipment and facilities. This includes surveys, tests and reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations, specifying activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements.

As a representative of the company, you will represent the business at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams. Your tasks will also involve preparing specification modifications (word or excel) and ensuring engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards.

Other responsibilities include validating Intermediate & Graduate Engineer input into designs, supporting delivery of projects in accordance with Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified with 5+ years experience in a consulting engineering office or in an engineering role within a manufacturing company with a heavy design emphasis.
  • Working towards or have achieved MCIBSE/MIEE or equivalent.
  • Working towards Chartered Eng status.
  • Excellent technical skills and written ability.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Able to work on their own initiative and meet deadlines.
  • Liaise successfully with clients.
  • Experience with BIM/Revit systems desired.
  • Proficient in CAD, Word, Excel and familiar with building services engineering design software suites.
