Health and Safety Specialist

Our organization is seeking a dedicated and experienced health and safety professional to fill this critical role.

About the Position

This key member of our safety team will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, providing health and safety training, and promoting a safe working environment to prevent accidents and injuries among workers.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with regulatory mandates.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards, ensuring all necessary safety measures are in place and adhered to.
  • Provide comprehensive health and safety training and inductions for new and existing staff, fostering a culture of safety awareness and compliance.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommendations for preventive measures.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Liaise with management, contractors, and regulatory authorities to coordinate health and safety initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, incidents, and inspections.
  • Stay updated with new legislation and best practices, incorporating changes into the safety management system.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH).
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and procedures.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a health and safety role, preferably in construction or a similar industry.
