MetroLink Rail Delivery Specialist Overview

Dublin's first metro railway aims to provide a high-capacity, high-frequency service with 16 new stations from Swords to Charlemont.

The system will interlink with multiple transport networks, including Dublin Airport, Irish Rail, DART, Dublin Bus, and Luas, offering a seamless transport experience for the Greater Dublin Area.

Key Features:

Rail Delivery Specialist Role

Support the MetroLink Directorate team in managing design and construction quality of main contractors.

Work with a team on challenging projects to introduce new technology and methods to MetroLink Dublin.

Deliver technical aspects of the design and construction phase to achieve the Permit to Operate.

Support the delivery manager in all activities related to designing, procuring, installing, and handing over sites and testing equipment.

Assist in preparing technical reports on project scope.

Develop processes and procedures to ensure consistency and quality from design to manufacture and test phases.

Monitor and report on performance and quality of design work by the Contractor and monitor progress against agreed programme of works.

Participate in reviewing Contractor/Consultant Submissions.

Support design process, including exchanging interface details, technical clarifications, and technical information requests (RFI), handling design changes (RFC), and variations between the Contractor and Civil Works Contractor.

Support management of Contractors' Civil Works, Systems, and Delivery teams.

Participate in regular design process meetings and workshops with the integrated Metrolink team.

Work alongside the Delivery Team to assist in coordinating requirements.

Contribute to reports providing measurement metrics on ongoing completion of tasks to guide the contractor in delivering all tasks.

Maintain own records for status of each activity under direct management.

Prepare meeting minutes and action lists to facilitate information sharing.

Participate in reviewing and preparing various reports and other correspondence related to the project.

Promote an inclusive and collaborative workplace culture.

Perform additional tasks, activities, or other duties as required or assigned as part of the role throughout the project.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years' experience working in an engineering environment, either in design or in construction for projects in an urban area.

Knowledge of relevant and related engineering specifications and standards - IS, BS, EN, NFPA, including relevant international standards.

Knowledge of civil, structural, and temporary works activities.

Ability to engage with and manage relationships with various stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.

Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and ensure cohesive project delivery.

Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and environments.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and relate to individuals and groups – both technical and non-technical.

Degree (NFQ Level 7 or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or related discipline.

Membership of a related professional organisation or position to apply for same (Desirable).
