Job Overview

The role of Senior Ecologist is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a leading consultancy in the field of sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy.

This position offers exposure to a diverse range of projects, including circular economy, environment, and sustainable infrastructure sectors.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ecologist to join our team as a key member of the Energy and Planning team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality ecological consultancy services through individual contracts
  • Provide expert ecological input for various projects across different sectors
  • Plan, conduct, and supervise site ecological surveys and fieldwork
  • Develop and implement Construction Environmental Management Plans
  • Conduct Appropriate Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Biodiversity Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), and other environmental reporting requirements
  • Prepare technical reports and other deliverables
  • Ensure quality control, including attention to detail and accuracy, timely delivery of contracts, and adherence to the highest standards
  • Act as an expert witness at Oral Hearings
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and participate in meetings with clients and design teams when necessary
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • A degree in ecology or a related subject
  • A minimum of five years post-graduate experience
  • Desirable: Consultancy experience
  • Member of CIEEM, CIWEM, or equivalent professional body
  • Detailed knowledge of wildlife and conservation legislation within Ireland
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Experience in preparing Appropriate Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and project management skills
