Job Description

This is a senior supervisory role within the maintenance function. The position carries direct responsibility for leading a team of technicians and engineers in delivering a high-performance maintenance program.

The Senior Supervisor will ensure consistent execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities across the site, with a strong focus on asset uptime, reliability, and continuous development of team capability.

The role requires a technically strong leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage both the maintenance team and cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Leadership and management of the Maintenance team, ensuring operational objectives are met through the delivery of a robust and efficient maintenance program.
  • Accountability for ensuring Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities are completed on schedule and to a high standard.
  • Timely execution of Corrective Maintenance (CM), minimizing equipment downtime and maximizing overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Monitoring, reporting, and acting on key performance metrics, including Equipment Uptime, Mean Time To Failure (MTTF), and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
  • Addressing machine safety concerns promptly and effectively, supporting investigations and follow-up actions related to any safety incidents or hazards.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function, using lean tools and root cause analysis to improve processes and performance.
  • Fostering a culture of development through structured upskilling, technical training, and mentoring of technicians and engineers.
  • Developing Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and conducting performance reviews to support growth and engagement of team members.
  • Partnering with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and other support functions to ensure maintenance requirements are integrated into business planning and execution.
  • Ensuring team compliance with GMP, GDP, EHS, and other regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Representing the Maintenance department in cross-functional forums and site-wide initiatives.
  • Driving the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for planning, execution, and reporting of all maintenance activities.
  • Providing out-of-hours and shutdown support as required, ensuring adequate response and continuity of operations.
  • Leading technical investigations and supporting cross-functional troubleshooting efforts to resolve chronic or complex equipment issues.
  • Supporting the integration of reliability engineering principles into the maintenance function, with a focus on proactive asset care, failure mode analysis, and predictive maintenance strategies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Level 8 Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, with ideally 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment highly advantageous.
  • A proven technical background in maintenance of production equipment, ideally within medical device, pharmaceutical, or high-tech manufacturing sectors.
  • A strong understanding of CMMS systems, equipment reliability metrics, and maintenance planning principles.
  • A good knowledge of GMP / FDA regulatory requirements and current Health and Safety Regulations legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop diverse technical teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience using lean tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence with strong coaching and people management skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with effective project management and prioritization capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, self-starting approach to work.
