Risk management specialists play a pivotal role in governance, risk assurance and compliance teams. Our team provides expert services to clients across various sectors including credit unions, insurance intermediaries, charities, and government bodies.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in delivering high-level engagements spanning governance, risk management, credit underwriting, data protection, AML/CTF, outsourcing, and investment management. They will be responsible for managing client relationships, leading assignments, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work within agreed parameters.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing client portfolios, which may encompass credit unions, charities, and other clients within the governance portfolio. Services to be delivered include outsourced risk management, compliance functions, internal audit functions, and bespoke internal controls reviews.
  • Managing workflows to deliver high-quality work within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Supervising, coaching, training, and leading a team of qualified and part-qualified trainee accountants.
  • Reporting into partners, attending client meetings, and presenting outcomes of reviews.
  • Liaising with the governance team administrator to prepare presentations and manage workflows.
  • Assessing and advising on internal control frameworks covering all aspects of clients' businesses.
  • Facilitating risk identification, assessment, and internal control evaluation.
  • Assessing compliance with all material aspects of legislation and best practice.

Requirements for the role include:

  • A bachelor's degree in commerce, business, finance, or a similar field.
  • A professional qualification in risk, compliance, or internal audit is desirable but not essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in risk, compliance, governance, and/or internal audit.
  • Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks.
  • Relevant sector or industry experience.
  • Highly motivated individuals who can work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent presentation skills, attention to detail, and practical approach.
  • Strong people management and development skills.
