Software Design Engineer Position

Job Overview

This full-time role within our team requires a self-motivated individual who can conceptualize new ways to solve problems for customers and design innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop or improve fastening solutions to new and existing customers.
  • Support sales activities with technical calls and visits as required.
  • Coordinate testing for prototypes, pilot production and final customer acceptance.
  • Coordinate development activities within the business including manufacturing, purchasing, quality, sales and marketing, finance and equipment departments.
  • Generate manufacturing costs and submit to the pricing coordinator.
  • Provide technical support to customers and distributors.
  • Coordinate training with new and key distributors and customers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Third-level degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of engineering experience.
  • Application Engineering skills with a track record of solving problems and working in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient with Solid Modelling software (preferably Pro/E) and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with engineering tools such as SPC.
  • Experience using Business software (ERP systems, preferably JDE).
  • Finite Element Analysis is desirable.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to use laboratory testing tools as required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interpret and communicate data accurately.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Flexibility in schedule to allow for travel.
