
Chief Finance Specialist

The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with a commercial mindset, driving strategy and maintaining strong financial controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day finance operations to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Ensure timely payment of suppliers each week, fostering good supplier relationships
- Prepare accounts for auditors, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Implement efficient invoice management processes
- Develop and monitor both weekly and monthly dashboards showing operations/performance for senior leadership teams
- Design projects for replacing manual processes with automated systems, improving productivity
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flows, providing valuable insights
- Collaborate with the buying team to maximise gross profit potential from seasonal supplier budgets
- Manage labour budget and planning, ensuring optimal resource allocation
- Drive the quarter-end process, ensuring smooth completion
- Liaise with colleagues to ensure accurate financial reporting across all areas of responsibility
- Verify Balance Sheet accounts, identifying and resolving issues promptly
- Provide commentary on Balance Sheet/P&L variances to budget
- Analyse key expense variances to budget/forecast, providing actionable recommendations
- Deliver high-quality financial reporting and analysis, identifying trends and improving performance
- Manage capital expenditure spends, ROI, and cost/benefit analysis, reporting spend monthly
- Conduct regular reviews to improve budget accuracy
- Produce timely and accurate department margin analysis monthly
- Supply business data to all branches and departments, driving enhanced net margins
- Ensure tax compliance, cooperating with external tax advisors as necessary
- liaise with external auditors on financial statement audits
- Prepare statutory returns - VAT, PAYE, PRSI etc.
- Compile Annual Accounts
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or similar qualifications)
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience
- Experience in Retail or Ecommerce is essential
- Good knowledge of local accounting standards, IFRS and payroll calculation
- Experience implementing an ERP system is desirable
- Experience in group reporting for statutory purposes according to relevant deadlines
- Strong retail financial management skills
- A track record of implementing change and new processes in the finance function
