Senior Laboratory Executive Position

This is a challenging opportunity to lead the geochemistry laboratory at NovaUCD, Dublin, Ireland. The laboratory provides in-house analytical services to an enhanced weathering science team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • The Senior Laboratory Executive will oversee soil and soil-water sample preparation and analysis.
  • Develop and implement record-keeping protocols suitable for a high-sample-throughput laboratory.
  • Maintain, operate, and calibrate a suite of analytical equipment.
  • Provide training to staff on the use of analytical equipment.
  • Manage a database of sample analyses.
  • Ensure QA/QC across all analytical instruments.
  • Procure supplies and maintain a supply inventory.
  • Engage with equipment suppliers and maintenance teams.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
  • Maintain laboratory health and safety standards.
  • Contribute to the processing and interpretation of geochemical data in collaboration with the science team.
Requirements:
  • A PhD in a relevant branch of the natural sciences or a BSc/MSc with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated training and experience working in a wet and/or geochemistry laboratory.
  • Excellent data management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with analytical equipment software, especially chromatography software is advantageous.
