Healthcare Database Specialist

The role of a Cogito Administrator in an Epic system is to configure, maintain and optimize the Cogito reporting databases aligning with the environment strategy. This involves engaging in capacity planning to ensure sufficient system resources, monitoring database size and health, creating and managing plans for statistics and index maintenance.

In this position, you will be working closely with other teams, including environment/infrastructure and internal/external enterprise security teams. Your goal will be to provide on-call support for production performance/availability or other critical issues while ensuring that Epic database changes are communicated to the necessary teams across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Configuring and maintaining the Cogito databases according to the environment strategy
  • Engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources
  • Understanding performance metrics, monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Managing logins for different types of access, including login behavior and working environment configuration
  • Applying RDMS upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments
  • Performing database backups and verifying restores
Requirements:
  • Degree Qualified in relevant field (Data Science or STEM subject) or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of database operating systems
  • Technically experienced in MS SQL Server analytical database platforms
  • Able to create, understand and follow processes to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Epic Systems
  • RDBMS Certification preferably Microsoft SQL Server
