Offshore Technical Authority

This role involves acting as the technical representative for a transmission infrastructure project, ensuring its successful delivery. You will provide oversight of engineering design, construction, and commissioning, liaising with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the technical authority for offshore grid connection projects, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide engineering oversight during project development, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Review and assess offshore cable system design, installation methodologies, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of offshore substations, HVDC/HVAC transmission systems, and interconnectors.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, health & safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Liaise with government agencies and other key stakeholders to ensure project alignment with national grid strategy.
  • Support feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical due diligence for offshore wind and transmission projects.
  • Participate in site visits and offshore inspections to monitor construction and commissioning activities.
  • Provide expert input into tendering, procurement strategies, and contract negotiations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Offshore Engineering (or a related field).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred (or working towards it).
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in offshore wind, transmission, or subsea cable engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of HVDC/HVAC transmission systems, offshore substations, and interconnectors.
  • Experience with Irish & EU offshore regulations, and health & safety standards.
  • Familiarity with industry software such as PSS/E, DigSILENT, ETAP, or similar is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
