Electrical Engineer with Healthcare Expertise


  • Job Title: Principal Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer with healthcare expertise to join our team.


Job Description

The successful Electrical Engineer will be a part of a group of multi-disciplinary engineers who overcome highly complex challenges in the built environment with creativity, technical expertise, passion and a commitment to designing with a social purpose.


The successful candidate will assume a lead role in a diverse and challenging range of design projects, primarily in our healthcare portfolio but also with the opportunity to work across other sectors.


Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Management: Resources and fees
  • Design and Contract Documentation: Preparation and specifications
  • Design Work Review: Intermediate and junior engineers
  • Systems Design: Electrical distribution, small power, lighting & emergency lighting, fire detection & alarm, ICT, security and vertical transportation
  • Team Coordination: Architect, engineers of all disciplines, QS, etc.
  • Design Standards: Ensuring that all designs and documents are prepared to the highest standards
  • Estimating and Cost Control: Projects
  • Project Reports: Compiling
  • Mentoring and Development: Intermediate and junior engineers
  • Supply Chain and Contractors: Liaising and coordinating

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: Masters or Degree in Electrical Services engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum 9+ years post-qualification experience, most of which will be in design gained within a consultancy environment
  • Healthcare Experience: Substantial experience in design of healthcare projects
  • Professional Status: Chartered Engineer status (or close to achieving status)
  • Techincal Expertise: Technically excellent with in-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations
  • Leadership Experience: Experience in leading design teams
  • Software Proficiency: Competent in electrical design software
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Personal Qualities: Highly motivated, pro-active and willing to take on new challenges
