Mechanical Estimator Position

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled mechanical estimator to join our engineering services team. As a senior estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates and ensuring timely submission of tenders.

  • Conduct in-depth reviews of tender documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs and populate pricing documents accordingly.
  • Obtain and assess competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with specifications and full scope coverage.
  • Present completed estimates to the Pre-Construction Director and Board of Directors for review and approval.
  • Oversee tender document control, including analysis of drawings and specifications for inclusion in BOQs.
  • Mentor junior members within the mechanical estimation team.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Estimators to ensure coordinated and accurate tenders.
  • Contribute to internal estimating procedures, ensuring high standards of quality control across all documentation.
  • Independently manage and complete large-scale tenders from initiation through to submission.
Key Requirements:
  • 3-4 years experience in mechanical cost estimating within a contracting environment.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical and process pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical building services.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and process pipework materials.
  • Proficient in interpreting drawings and specifications, performing accurate take-offs, and preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workload independently, meet tight deadlines, and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
