Job Overview

As a senior environmental risk consultant, you will lead complex projects and provide expert guidance in COMAH compliance, HAZOP studies, and wider process safety management across high-hazard industries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and deliver COMAH regulatory compliance projects, including safety report preparation and updates.
  • Facilitate and lead HAZOPs, LOPAs, and other process safety reviews, ensuring robust identification and assessment of risks.
  • Advise clients on major accident hazard management, safety cases, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Provide strategic consulting on process safety management systems (PSMS) and compliance with EU regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a technical authority in process risk consultancy.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring deliverables are completed to scope, time, and budget.
  • Mentor and support junior consultants, sharing technical expertise and fostering career development.
  • Contribute to business development by preparing proposals, attending client meetings, and supporting thought leadership initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Significant consultancy and/or industrial experience in high-hazard industries.
  • Proven expertise in COMAH compliance projects and preparation of safety reports.
  • Extensive experience in leading and facilitating HAZOP studies (HAZID, LOPA experience desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of EU Seveso III Directive and Irish Health & Safety Authority (HSA) requirements.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent professional accreditation) preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client engagement skills.
  • Strong report writing, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
