Itinerant Speech Language Pathologist Job Description

The Itinerant Speech Language Pathologist will provide services to support the instructional program at various schools. This role requires a professional who can identify students with communication disabilities and plan appropriate treatment plans.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Identify students with communication disabilities.
  2. Plan and implement effective treatment plans to minimize adverse impact on student success.
  3. Recommend treatment plans and provide direction to school staff.
  4. Create a speech/language program and classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
  5. Establish effective rapport with students.
  6. Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for a good educational foundation.
  7. Utilize technology to motivate students and prepare them for 21st-century learning.
  8. Participate in school-related activities that enhance teacher, student, parent, and community relations.
  9. Analyze different data sources in making data-driven decisions for instruction.
  10. Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors.
  11. Evaluate students to determine eligibility for services under Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  12. Use current technology for instruction and management purposes.


Required Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
  1. Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the services and education of children with disabilities.
  2. Knowledge of pediatric and adolescent development (cognitive and physical) and medical and psychological diagnostic instruments.
  3. Ability to compile and analyze data, interpret laws, policies, and regulations.
  4. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  5. Effective oral and written communication.
