Key Role: Capital Expenditure Accountant

The ideal candidate for this position will be a qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, possessing strong analytical and problem-solving skills. They should have demonstrated the application of investment appraisal techniques.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Collaboration with Investment Team: Work closely with the Investment & Reporting Controller on managing capital projects and costs, ensuring sustainable reporting practices.
  • Cost Evaluation Support: Assist Procurement in evaluating project cost estimates.
  • Budget Tracking: Collaborate with the GL team to track budgets, variances, and potential risks or issues that may arise.
  • Asset Management: Support the Investment & Reporting controller in maintaining the fixed asset register, conducting asset verifications, and disposals.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development of SOPs as required, aligned with key legislative requirements such as government policy frameworks.
  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits & compliance.
  • Committee Support: Support the Investment & Reporting Controller in Capex Steering & Evaluation Committee meetings, agenda preparation, minutes, papers, and follow-up actions.
  • Process Enhancement: Collaborate with other functions to evaluate, enhance processes, and system development for efficiency while ensuring compliance, considering future upgrades like SAP.
  • Technology Solutions: Proactively explore technology solutions for efficient planning and reporting.
  • Periodic Tasks: Ensure completion of periodic, quarterly, and year-end tasks like financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance reporting, adhering to timelines.
  • PAS/BAS Asset Creation: Collaborate with GL on PAS/BAS asset creation following ARC/Board approvals and periodic reporting.
  • Compliance Framework: Work with the Investment & Reporting Controller on compliance with the New Era Climate Action Framework, Public Spending Code, EU Taxonomy, and CSRD reporting with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
