R&D Manager

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned engineering professional with a strong background in medical device product development.

  • Recruit, manage and develop senior and R&D engineers, providing them with clear goals and objectives, and developmental feedback and opportunities.
  • Seek out opportunities for building continuous clinical and technical knowledge and expertise within the staff.
  • Support the development of departmental and program objectives to ensure technology reaches its potential and departmental resources are aligned to facilitate this.
  • Ensure health and safety protocols are in place in the test laboratory.
  • Support the development and maintenance of departmental plans and resourcing strategies.
  • Ensure interactions with colleagues/stakeholders reflect company values.
  • Implement robust engineering practices and processes in product design and development to ensure reliable and high-quality products.
  • Align testing with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare submission-ready documentation for regulatory bodies.
  • Support clinical activities including limited clinical case support, perform root cause investigations of identified product failure modes and support the ongoing development of the company's intellectual property portfolio.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a similar role in medical device product development with at least 3 years of project management/leadership roles in technical projects across R&D and Manufacturing as a Senior or Principal R&D Engineer.
  • Good leadership and project management skills with the ability to effectively build and manage a small team demonstrated experience in people mentoring and development.
  • Deep understanding of FDA and ISO 13485 requirements with the ability to interpret these requirements and implement them into new product development.
  • Broad knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes applicable to the medical device industry is desirable.
