About the Role

The Senior Development Chemist will play a key role in developing processes to ensure project timelines are met, while maintaining technical, quality, and safety metrics. This involves providing chemistry expertise and technical support in laboratory, kilo laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing plants at our site.

This position drives continuous improvement activities and works closely with cross-functional teams. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical & laboratory support for new product introductions
  • Supporting development projects in the lab, including route scouting, route development, proof of concept, and process robustness studies
  • Proposing modifications to synthetic routes to solve sophisticated chemistry issues
  • Undertaking compound synthesis to required quality standards
  • Developing/Expanding scientific, technical, and drug discovery knowledge through literature reviews, conferences, and training
  • Authoring or contributing to regulatory submissions, patents, and internal documentation
  • Communicating with clients and other teams to transfer projects from plant to lab
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree, Master's, or PhD in chemistry with significant Organic Chemistry components
  • 1-2 years of experience in synthetic/Organic chemistry (industry or research institution preferred)
  • Experience leading a development project
  • Proficient knowledge in synthetic organic chemistry, particularly in route development and optimization
  • Ability to think critically and innovatively, with a willingness to challenge
  • Strong analytical capability and ability to carry out large-scale reactions in the laboratory
  • Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting and solving complex issues
  • Excellent technical writing skills and verbal communication
