Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and providing well-trained driver resources across the organisation to meet customer and operational requirements.

This role will also have responsibility for some human resources related activities where appropriate, including planning and coordination of vocational training for sites.

In addition, the position will ensure that the transport element of the depots, terminals and cryoease sites are operating within all legislative and company requirements.

The role is responsible for coordinating the daily distribution activity in an efficient manner for each of the sites.

Additionally, the role requires regular interfaces with other operational and commercial departments within the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the daily operational management of drivers across bulk, cryo ease, sales centres and packaged gases depots.
  • Providing eh&s, transport, operational and quality support to the distribution teams.
  • Ensuring that our daily activities are conducted efficiently and in accordance with all safety, quality and service standards applicable within the organisation.
  • Supervising the daily activities of all drivers within remit across bulk, cryo ease, sales centres and packaged gases.
  • Managing and planning the holidays of all personnel under their supervision and providing resource for holiday cover at each site as well as arranging sickness absence cover where required.
  • Leading and supporting in hr matters including recruitment, training, annual appraisals, grievance and disciplinary matters.
  • Planning and coordination of vocational training for sites, including driver cpc, adr training, hgv refresher training and forklift refresher training.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Previous experience of distribution with working knowledge of transport legislation is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in supervising a team and building relationships with industrial relations representatives.

Educated to hnd/degree level or equivalent experience is preferred, along with pc skills microsoft office – excel/word/powerpoint.

Transport manager certificate professional competence and large goods vehicle licence/adr and driver cp forklift are desirable but not essential.
