Environmentally Focused Project Specialist

Job Summary
- We are seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our team, providing expert ecological advice across a variety of projects.
- Key responsibilities include managing individual contracts, conducting site ecological surveys and fieldwork, and preparing environmental reports.
About the Role
This role is ideal for candidates with a minimum of seven years' experience in environmental consultancy. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a diverse range of projects across the renewable energy, circular economy, and civil infrastructure sectors.
Responsibilities
- Manage individual contracts to ensure delivery of high-quality ecological consultancy services
- Provide specialist ecological advice across various projects
- Plan, conduct, and oversee site ecological surveys and fieldwork
- Prepare and supervise the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)
- Conduct Appropriate Assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Biodiversity Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and other environmental reports
- Write detailed technical reports and other project deliverables
- Evaluate quality control with a focus on accuracy, timelines, and continuous improvement of the Ecology team's output
- Act as an expert witness during Oral Hearings
- Maintain strong client relationships and participate in meetings with clients and design teams as needed
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in ecology or related discipline
- At least seven years of post-graduate experience in environmental consultancy
- Member of CIEEM, CIWEM or comparable professional body
- Experience in participating in oral hearing process and serving as an expert witness
- Comprehensive knowledge of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation
- Strong technical report writing skills
- Proven experience in preparing and overseeing the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)
- Experience in collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent communication, organisational and project management skills
