Job Summary

  • We are seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our team, providing expert ecological advice across a variety of projects.
  • Key responsibilities include managing individual contracts, conducting site ecological surveys and fieldwork, and preparing environmental reports.

About the Role

This role is ideal for candidates with a minimum of seven years' experience in environmental consultancy. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a diverse range of projects across the renewable energy, circular economy, and civil infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage individual contracts to ensure delivery of high-quality ecological consultancy services
  • Provide specialist ecological advice across various projects
  • Plan, conduct, and oversee site ecological surveys and fieldwork
  • Prepare and supervise the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)
  • Conduct Appropriate Assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Biodiversity Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and other environmental reports
  • Write detailed technical reports and other project deliverables
  • Evaluate quality control with a focus on accuracy, timelines, and continuous improvement of the Ecology team's output
  • Act as an expert witness during Oral Hearings
  • Maintain strong client relationships and participate in meetings with clients and design teams as needed

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in ecology or related discipline
  • At least seven years of post-graduate experience in environmental consultancy
  • Member of CIEEM, CIWEM or comparable professional body
  • Experience in participating in oral hearing process and serving as an expert witness
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation
  • Strong technical report writing skills
  • Proven experience in preparing and overseeing the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)
  • Experience in collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication, organisational and project management skills
