Job Description:
A key role within our organization involves driving and implementing sourcing strategies across the defined supplier portfolio. This position is responsible for leading a team, being accountable for operational and escalation issues related to suppliers at the San Jose site, and overseeing activities that span cost savings strategies, new product development, operations, and mergers and acquisitions.

 

Responsibilities
  • Establish the structure for the sourcing organization, identify suitable talent, develop job descriptions, objectives, performance indicators, and goals.
  • Implement sourcing strategies for a defined supplier portfolio to enable optimal business levels of service, quality, and cost.
  • Set the strategic direction for key supplier partners, aligning it with the organization's mission, global sourcing category strategies, and customer/stakeholder needs.
  • Serve as the leader/escalation path for supplier management issues within the organization, resolving commercial implications related to product field actions, quality issues, dispute resolutions, etc.
  • Develop suppliers in areas of quality, service, and cost to meet the organization's daily and long-term needs.
  • Lead global sourcing projects and cross-functional initiatives; may also lead or perform strategic program management outside the sourcing organization.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 10 years of sourcing/procurement/supply chain experience, preferably in medical devices or highly regulated environments.
  • Ability to identify, develop, and lead talented individuals.
  • Ability to see the big picture, distill strategic objectives into a concrete plan for execution, influence others to build consensus behind shared goals, challenge the status quo, initiate tough conversations, and promote a culture of innovation.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical abilities.
  • Expert-level knowledge and experience in developing, negotiating, and implementing commercial contracts.
  • Expert knowledge of procurement strategy and market drivers.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, collaborative teamwork, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with executive-level personnel and close strategic negotiations with suppliers.
  • Experience presenting to and influencing executives.
  • Ability to interpret complex information and interconnected issues to articulate findings, obstacles, and solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communications.
  • Willingness to challenge processes and leverage knowledge to identify new solutions.
  • Ability to navigate complex interpersonal and political issues.
