Operations Supervisor Job Description

As an Operations Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day activities of our operations staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of assigned operations staff by performing duties personally or through subordinate employees.
  • Oversee the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operation of the facility on a rotating shift basis.
  • Monitor and operate, as necessary, various plant systems including boilers, flue gas treatment, water treatment, turbine/generator, switchgear, and auxiliary systems.
  • Conduct regular safety reviews for operators under your supervision and direct emergency or unusual situations as needed.
  • Approve requests for removing equipment from service for maintenance or other purposes, ensuring proper clearance and tagging according to facility procedures.
Supervisory Duties:

Supervise a group of employees in the Operations Department, including control room operators, crane operators, equipment operators, utility operators, auxiliary operators, tipping floor operators, scale operators, and laborers.

This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; approving time sheets; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Engineering, or Operations Management.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in operations management or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
