We are seeking a skilled Checkout Manager to join our team on a full-time basis in our store.
About the Position- Overall leadership of a busy checkout department, ensuring seamless operations and optimal customer satisfaction.
- Strategic management of day-to-day activities, prioritizing tasks to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Supervision of a team of up to 8/10 people when on duty, fostering a positive work environment and promoting staff development.
- Effective rostering for a team of approximately 25 people, including supervisory staff, ensuring adequate coverage and minimizing conflicts.
- Proactive queue management, implementing strategies to reduce wait times and improve customer experience.
- Ensuring all staff have the necessary tools and resources to complete their roles effectively.
- Covering the customer service desk by assisting customers with queries and concerns, providing exceptional support.
- Overseeing the store end of the home delivery service, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
- Departmental housekeeping duties, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations, adhering to established standards and guidelines.
- Staff training and development, identifying areas for growth and implementing targeted programs.
- Stepping in to cover a till point at busy times, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Assisting the store manager in other areas of the store as needed, supporting the team's goals and objectives.
- Ensuring COVID-19 procedures compliance, maintaining a safe working environment.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience as a checkout manager/supervisor in a busy retail grocery environment.
- Previous experience working within a Super Valu/Centra property is desirable but not essential.
- Strong expertise in using a till/cash register system, with a proven track record of accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing stress.
- Experience in a front-line role, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and building strong relationships.
- Excellent people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Fluent communication skills, both written and spoken, with a strong emphasis on clarity and concision.
- Ability to multitask, juggling multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, with a focus on planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks efficiently.
- Experience in staff training and development, with a commitment to growth and improvement.
- Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
- Flexibility in terms of working hours, with a willingness to work early starts, late finishes, and weekends as required.
