Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Deputy Head of Underwriting to join our team in Dublin City Centre. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior management professional with extensive experience in portfolio management, strategic planning, and underwriting.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience working across a Casualty or SME portfolio, with advanced technical knowledge and skills reflective of a seasoned practitioner. They will be responsible for developing, leading, and implementing the Casualty business strategy, driving profitable growth, and managing profit and loss responsibility for the Casualty & SME portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops, leads, and implements the Casualty business strategy and drives profitable growth.
  • Holds profit and loss responsibility for the Casualty & SME portfolios.
  • Works closely with Sales & Distribution, Market Facing Underwriters, and Claims and Actuarial to enable the achievement of business plans.
  • Demonstrates specialised knowledge and expertise in products and industry, leading projects to develop technical standards, controls, and practices for areas of expertise.
  • Drives initiatives and action plans, actively engaging with customers, business partners, and influencing trade and industry groups.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in senior management level, working across a Casualty or SME portfolio.
  • Advanced technical knowledge and skills reflective of a seasoned practitioner.
  • High level of UW authority and involvement in trade and industry bodies for area of specialism.
  • Excellent knowledge of UW concepts and principles, UW metrics, and tools and techniques for portfolio management.
  • Strong analytical skills and decision-making ability, with the ability to work to strict deadlines and ambitious targets.

  • Salary: €100,000 - €110,000 per annum.
