Job Description

A career as a Trainee Pricing Actuary is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in the field of actuarial science.

In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring trading performance, analyzing trends in risk mix, volumes, and profitability. You will use your findings to deliver actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders across the business, including tailoring market rates to maximize performance.

You will also support the Trading & Performance Manager and collaborate with colleagues across Pricing, Underwriting, and Finance to influence business decisions and drive performance across our Personal Lines portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring trading performance and analyzing trends in risk mix, volumes, and profitability
  • Delivering actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders
  • SUPPORTING Quarterly valuation mix inputs through data preparation, validation, and analysis
  • Assisting with quarterly forecasting by running and refining trading models
  • Contributing to ad-hoc pricing and trading projects
  • Developing skills in industry-standard tools such as SQL and Python
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have previous experience in General Insurance Pricing, ideally in Motor or Home. You should also be part-qualified as an actuary (IFoA or equivalent) and progressing with exams.

Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential, along with attention to detail and a curious mindset. The ability to explain the story behind the numbers is also crucial.

Familiarity with SQL is desirable, and knowledge of Radar or Emblem is beneficial. Strong communication skills are required to present findings and influence stakeholders.
