As an Amazon Field Engineer, you will play a crucial part in this process, supporting all aspects of data center operations, from design and construction to ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to drive consistency and reliability in our services, ensuring that every customer has a seamless experience with AWS. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will be essential in troubleshooting complex issues and developing solutions that meet the needs of our customers.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Review and analyze design and equipment submittals for new data centers in your region.
2. Conduct thorough investigations into site and equipment failures, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
3. Provide expert technical guidance and support to colleagues, helping to resolve operational issues and improve overall performance.
4. Develop and implement design solutions to enhance data center capacity, availability, and efficiency.
5. Collaborate with internal teams to establish and maintain high standards for safety, security, and reliability in our services.
6. Work on multiple projects simultaneously, often spanning multiple geographic regions.
7. Lead engineering audits, conducting on-site inspections and producing detailed reports outlining risks and recommended mitigations.
8. Serve as the primary point of contact for technical matters in your region, engaging with diverse teams to drive results.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, along with 6+ years of experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities. You must have a strong foundation in both mechanical and electrical equipment and design related to data centers, as well as fluent knowledge of continuous operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment systems, and building management systems.
