Downstream Process Specialist Role

About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled Downstream Process Specialist to oversee downstream processing activities from fermentation harvest to final product drying in Cork, Ireland.

  • This individual will be responsible for operating and optimizing unit operations including filtration, biomass separation, and drying technologies.
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will troubleshoot daily process deviations and implement corrective actions, as well as lead continuous improvement initiatives to maximize product recovery, yield, and quality.

Closely collaborating with upstream, analytical, and quality teams is essential to ensure seamless process integration.

  • Degree in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field (MSc or PhD preferred).
  • Significant hands-on experience in downstream processing within microbial fermentation or biomanufacturing is required.
  • Expertise in crossflow filtration systems, biomass handling, and enzyme stabilization is also essential.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex bioprocesses and experience with pilot plant operation and process scale-up is an advantage.
