Job Opportunity

A Principal Genetic Counsellor is sought to lead clinical genetics and genomics initiatives in our regions, ensuring comprehensive outreach genetic counselling clinics across the HSE Southwest and Midwest regions.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Comprehend patient medical facts, including diagnosis, probable disorder course, and available management options
  • Assess heredity's contribution to disorders and risk of recurrence in relatives
  • Understand and explain options for dealing with risk recurrence, providing ongoing support to patients and families
  • Support patients/families in making adjustments to disorders/risk of disorders
Additional Leadership Roles

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering genetics education, supporting mainstreaming of genetic testing in defined healthcare regions. They will also contribute to leadership and management of the CHI Genetic Counselling team, collaborating with the CHI Genetic Counselling Lead.
