This role is based in Cork, at our counter in Dunnes Stores, Bandon Road.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Cheesemonger.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Learn about and educate customers about our products and services.
  • Learn about Irish & European artisan cheese and food producers.
  • Be familiar with current product ranges and dairy, deli, and ambient categories.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with tact and patience; be customer-focused and assist with queries or service.
  • Assist customers with use of the website; receive product deliveries and organize storage.
  • Describe tastes, flavours, textures, and pairings of cheese and other foods.
  • Maintain cheese in top condition in refrigerated and non-refrigerated environments; help reduce product waste.
  • Merchandise and display cheese and other items in the retail space.
  • Maintain food safety standards required of a safety-inspected environment; record and maintain HACCP documents.
  • Understand allergens and navigate the Allergen Book; prepare and display cheese as instructed by team leaders or managers.
  • Maintain cheese signs and displays; create seasonal hampers; rotate stock and manage stock levels.
  • Report issues to Team Leaders or Retail Managers; participate in daily handover and quarterly stocktaking.
Requirements
  • At least one year in a similar retail setting preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of Irish and European farmhouse cheese.
  • HACCP trained or aware of HACCP/Food Safety in retail.
  • Interest in cheese and local, artisan foods.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently; strong communication and listening skills.
  • Outgoing, cheerful, friendly personality with passion for great customer service.
  • Organised and calm under pressure; available over 7 days including evenings and weekends.
